Staying Cool in a Cabana

Staying Cool in a Cabana

Looking for more ways to add a sense of luxury and laidback comfort to your pool? In today’s blog, we’re all about the cabana—the simple addition that can make your day at the pool that much more relaxing. Take a look.

Create a comfy space

The first thing to do when designing your cabana escape is, of course, to keep comfort in mind! This is a shaded spot you’ll want to make yourself at home in when the sun is too hot or when you simply want a break from swimming.

Consequentially, this isn’t a place for old wicker patio furniture or foldable chairs. This should be your spot where sinking into a poolside nap is effortless! Fill your space with a big, luxuriously comfy sofa or even an outdoor bed that provides the perfect nap spot. Use thick, soft cushions and a few of your favorite pillows to make the space that much more inviting.

Swim up to luxury

It’s your pool, your cabana, and your chance to create a space that’s uniquely yours. One great way to make your mark on your custom space is to create a cabana you can swim right up to.

How can you do this? If you’re still in the pool design process (or even if you’re in the middle of a remodel), a wet shelf might be just the solution. Such a feature gives you a shallow place to swim up to and sit or relax, but it can also provide an easy passage to on-land structures like the cabana. In fact, you can even house your wet shelf with the exterior posts of a cabana so it becomes a place to relax and enjoy the pool with a newfound sense of comfort and, of course, delightful shade!

You can also design a cabana around a swim-up counter or bar for easy entertaining.

Stock up on cabana essentials

What should you keep in your miniature home away from home? Not too much—but just enough essentials so that you don’t need to run in and out of the house all day. An outdoor fridge or cooler can keep your favorite drinks and snacks, like fruit salad, cool and easy to enjoy throughout the day. It might also be helpful to utilize hidden furniture storage to wrangle together goggles and other pool toys. Finally, don’t forget to stock up a pool or beach bag with magazines and books you’ll want to read under the comfort of the cabana.
