School Time Stress Relief in Your Central Florida Pool

It’s back to school season here in Central Florida—and that might mean a bit of chaos for both parent and child! In the midst of afterschool activities, homework, rushed meals and weekly projects, it’s important for both you and your child to take time to relax and unwind… and if you have a pool in your backyard, you’re already halfway there. This fall, encourage spending time in the pool as a way to blow off steam and add some excitement to your daily routine.

Here are a few ideas you can try:

Afterschool swim

During the back to school season, it’s all too easy to fall into the TV and snack routine after school. While it’s definitely important for kids of all ages to find ways to unwind after a busy day at school, kicking back in front of the TV may not be the best way to do that. Instead, encourage your child to jump in the pool right after school! Since it’s right in your backyard, there’s no pickups or drop-offs required—just have them throw on a bathing suit and enjoy. This is a great way to relieve the stress of the day, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Additionally, many children have fitness requirements outside of school. If your child is enrolled in an online fitness class or other activity, swimming is a great way to get in that necessary afternoon workout while still having fun.

Weekend fun

While in the summer, you may spend almost every day at the pool, this might not be so easy to do during the school year. This is why weekend pool days become all the more special during the fall. Make the most of sunny Saturdays spent poolside—throw an impromptu get together, invite your child’s friends over, and have a great time!

Poolside dinner

After a long day of classes, a bright blue pool can look so alluring. If your child wants to spend every spare second by the water, consider having dinner poolside. You will be able to enjoy the view and ambiance of outdoor eating while still spending precious family time together—and maybe you can even take a dip after dinner! Think about outdoor friendly meals such as barbecue, sandwiches and other easy choices.

Pre-meal soak

You need to relax after a long day, too! Treat yourself to some quality time outdoors by soaking in your pool or hot tub before dinner or any work commitments. If there’s an important book or document you’ve been putting off reading, bringing that literature outside and into the water with you can make the experience that much more enjoyable… just make sure your hands stay dry!

Here in Florida, pool owners are especially grateful to be able to unwind and relax in their own backyards. If you own a backyard pool or hot tub, we’d love to hear your ideas! Be sure to share them with us in the comment section below.
