From Seasonal Treats to Poolside Eats

Happy holidays! The holiday season is officially upon us, and with it comes light, laughter… and lots of good food.

Your favorite seasonal treats are good for more than formal dinners—bring them outside and enjoy them as easy poolside eats, all season long. Take a look at a few of our favorite flavors to snack on by the water.

Cranberry granola bars

If you have leftover cranberries from Thanksgiving, what better way to put them to use than by adding them to healthy, chewy granola bars you can enjoy by the pool? This is a naturally-energizing snack that’s easy to make and even easier to savor before or after an early-morning swim or session in the pool with friends.

Apple pie bites

Everyone loves apple pie—it’s the American dessert, after all! –but taking this treat poolside isn’t always convenient, especially since it requires at least one hand for a fork (and another for a spoon, if you enjoy yours a la mode). Solve this problem by crafting mini-sized apple pie bites. Simply roll cinnamon, sugar and a slice of Granny Smith in a premade pastry crust, then warm up and serve as a sweet poolside treat.

Mashed potato dip

What’s there to do with leftover mashed potatoes? Add your favorite spices, bacon pieces, cheese, and whatever else you may be craving—then heat it up and serve as a one-of-a-kind dip! This fresh idea makes a holiday dinner staple that much more accessible.

Hot chocolate, two ways

On cool mornings, when you want to enjoy the view without necessarily jumping in the pool, hot chocolate served up in plastic tumblers is the way to go. However, even when you’re enjoying an afternoon swim on a warmer winter day, you can still enjoy that classic holiday flavor—just turn it into frozen hot chocolate, add a candy cane garnish, and indulge!

Fruit salad, fall style

During the fall and winter months, you can concoct delicious fruit salads that showcase the sweet fruits often overlooked in the summertime. Apples, pears, and raisins make for excellent additions to your pool snack list this season. Top your mix off with a sprinkling of cinnamon for even more seasonal flair.

We hope that today’s blog helps you enjoy traditional flavors in not-so-traditional ways! After all, there’s no better way to kick off the holiday season than by soaking up some time by the pool.
